Freyssinet’s custom-designed welded jacking brackets played a crucial role in the mechanical jacking and support of the superstructure, ensuring that traffic could continue flowing seamlessly during the repair process. These innovative brackets provided the necessary stability and support while work was conducted overhead.

In addition, we developed advanced spherical bearings as a replacement for the existing components, enhancing the overall durability and functionality of the structure.

As part of our comprehensive approach, we also replaced the deteriorating joints of the roadway and sidewalks, addressing not only the visible wear but also the underlying structural issues. This included repairing the supports for the sidewalks, which had suffered from years of environmental stress.

Our Mission for the Howard St. Arch Bridge

Freyssinet, Inc., serving as the General Contractor, orchestrated a collaborative effort with six dedicated subcontractors to deliver all project aspects in strict adherence to the Maryland State Highway Administration’s specifications and guidelines.

Through efficient project management and teamwork, we successfully completed the Howard St. Arch Bridge project with 95 days remaining in the original 365-day timeline. This accomplishment not only demonstrated our commitment to excellence but also contributed to minimizing traffic disruptions in the area.

Furthermore, this project was nominated as a finalist in the under $5 million category for the prestigious 2014 MdQI Awards, recognizing all stakeholders’ efforts and innovation in infrastructure improvement.
